    Migbot i3 Prusa

    I bought this 3d printer here

    It uses a MKS Base 1.2.

    My problem is that the extruder and heating bed won't heat up. I have tried uploading the marlin firmware also.
    The temperature sensors are working properly though.

    I've tested the extruder and heating bed manually. The extruder heats up when connected to a 9v battery. The heating bed does not but the 9v battery gets really hot instead.
    Also the motors won't turn on either....


    I tried to bypass the heating step by manually heating the extruder and turning off heating bed support.
    At the specified extruder temperature the LCD just displays, "Heating complete" for a few mninutes......then it switches to "Printing..." but nothing is moving.

    What is absolutely clear is that the printer tries to print. The LCD displays the changing coordinates of the extruder but onbviously the extruder isn't moving since the motors aren't turning

    There's not much info to go on there but you should probably double check all your wiring especially the PSU .. what type of PSU is it Computer Power supply / Standalone power supply ?

    I've checked it. The powersupply looks like one of these.

    The power supply is connected to the board since it lights up and the fan turns on.
    Furthermore the motors are connected via those white plugs. There's no possible way of not plugging it in correctly.

    I've connected V+ and V- to the corresponding + and - connectors on the MKS board.

    Also, I've noticed that if I slide any of the axis while the printer is turned off, the board will slightly light up. This is a good sign because in this case the motor is acting as a generator therefore powering the board (since a motor in reverse is a generator). That means that the motors are essentially in a closed circuit with the board. Somehow though the motors aren't getting the current directed towards it.

    I'm guessing than since hardware seems to be working, that something software related is causing the issue.

    Has anyone else used a MKS base 1.2? I think the problem might be firmware related but the manufacture isn't responding to my emails.

    there's detailed info there regarding, setup and how to install firmware .. I would assume that it came preinstalled with firmware since it was part of a kit, but it might not have any firmware on it.

    I've tried that. Still does work.

    I just finished assembling my Migbot this weekend and had the exact same issue. I figured out that on the side of the power supply there is a 110/220V label above a hole. I assumed that since there wasn't a switch visible, it was just fixed at 110. If you take a flashlight and look in the hole, there IS a switch down in there and its was set to 220V. It's black and oriented perpendicular to the the hole. Using a screwdriver, I pushed the switch over to the 110V setting and it all started to work! Heating bed, hot end, steppers, etc etc.

    Hope this fixes your issue.
