3D Printed Model of 550-year-old Baby Mummy Helps Researchers Understand Past
Doctors at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center were handed quite a scientific project when asked to help with finding out more information about a mummy being displayed at the Cincinnati Museum Center, where “Mummies of the World: The Exhibition” is in its final two weeks. With the help of X-rays and CT scans, the doctors were able to glean a great deal of information, as well as create 3D models to help with further inspection of the mummy. Through the 3D models they were able to rule out a number of things, such as a mysterious hole in her spine that it turned out happened after mummification.
