Thanks to the technical expertise Rozi Rexhepi, the Digital Design Artist in Residence at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London from April to October of 2014, Conservationist Zoe Allen, and V&A technician Phil James, a lavish chair formerly owned by Marie Antoinette, the last Queen of France, was restored to a close approximation of its original appearance. The chair, produced as part of a suite in 1788 by Jean-Baptiste-Claude Sené, will be on permanent display in the new Europe 1600 to 1800 galleries, which open later in 2015. Scanning, 3D modeling, and printing were used specifically to reconstruct the crest on the top most portion of the chair back, which showcases the monogram of Marie Antoinette.
