I took the advice of someone else on this thread and simply tightened the middle tension screws on the hinges to keep mine up. Works great.

I use the same brand. It needs glue stick for PLA. Wiping it down lightly with alcohol works, too, but too good. Maybe it would be good for ABS, but with PLA you end up with blue crap all over the...
Sounds like you may have the side fan on. That messed my ABS up big time.
Try rubbing your painter's tape down with alcohol. It sticks way too well for PLA, but for ABS, it might be just right....
I use GPX for that. I have Slic3r set up to run it automatically, so it produces the X3G immediately after creating the G-code file. GPX is also nice for those times when you want to manually edit...
I would try Slic3r if you're not willing to spend that cash for Simplify. It's a little rough to set up, but I can share my profile, which will get you much of the way there.
I haven't had much trouble printing ABS with the Qidi, once I disconnected the side fan. What issues are you having?
I had this problem when the big side fan was on. Once the unused extruder reaches 50°, there are three fans running and the extruder you're using has a hard time maintaining its temperature. Making...
I've only used the card that came with the printer. I remove the stuff I'm done with, so I've found that the capacity is more than enough so far. I don't want to add any headaches to what's already a...
Heh. Saw this in my Facebook feed a few days ago. Looks like a cut-down version of the printer we all know and love, albeit in an odd color. It's good to see they aren't trying to stray too far from...
I've been using Slic3r with a lot of success, after initially using ReplicatorG. The only issue is that I had to completely set up the software myself, but that wasn't too difficult. I modified the...
I use Lightwave 3D for modeling. It's not free, but I already had it and knew how to use it. I've written my own STL import/export scripts, because I'm a professional software engineer and that was...
After playing with supports, I final decided to cut one of my parts in half so both ends could face up. I'm using Krazy Glue to glue the PLA together, and it works well. The secret for me is pressing...
That's about what I would get with my ReplicatorG/SkeinForge setup. Now I'm on Slic3r, and that's pretty much spot on in X and Y. I think it might be a little bit off in Z, but I haven't tested that...
I've modified these for Slic3r, if anyone's interested.
Today I added binary STL export to my Lightwave STL export script. It's a bitch that I have to create 32-bit floats "by hand", but at least my STL file sizes are reduced by 70%. It's still probably...
Today I wrote an STL import script for Lightwave 3D. It seems to work pretty well. The trickiest bit was the fact that LScript has no function for reading 32-bit floats from a binary file. Lightwave...
230° for PLA? I stay in the 190°-200° range, usually. Does this "crystal" stuff require more heat?
Heh. That was my guess, only because the web G-code viewer gcode.ws shows retractions as little circles and that looked like the 3D version.
Those door hinges are a nice, elegant solution. Where can I get those?
Yes. I read that removing parts too soon could tear the tape, so I wait at least until all the fans switch off, at which point the bed is normally down to about 60°C. The nice thing is that if the...
With blue painter's tape on the aluminum and glue stick on that, ABS seems to adhere well. I'm using Slic3r and GPX now with a modified version of the Simplify3D G-Code posted here. I made a filament...
People print with ridiculous infills, as well. I'm getting by with 10% on my prints. Even dropped a complex PLA piece yesterday with no damage.
I started out with PLA and had no trouble with it whatsoever. I had a little trouble with the ABS when I switched over, but I figured out the problem and that's been pretty smooth ever since. My...
Everything would be solved if we all used base 2,520.
I use mm in Lightwave 3D. I've mainly been modeling parts that have to fit together, and it helps to work out tolerances in the machine's native unit. It can be tricky at times, regardless. Sometimes...
