Sorry. What I meant was the extruder side popped, like it is slipping or can't push the filament.
The hot end is near the bed, I did not hear popping there.
You said you figured it out, can you share what it looks like and how you did it?
Update, I decided to make a 100x100x2 test print, so far it works fine.

I'm trying to print Thingiverse 195468 snowflake.
The skirt looks good but the first layers are spotty, some adhere, some don't, and it don't see any obvious cause.

Using cura
layer...
New printer with less than 10 hours use. When printing, the printer starts popping at the Extruded and the item does not appear to have enough filament and the filament appears to glob at the nozzle....
