Da Vinci 1.0 dark LCD screen

Hi,
I got the printer 9 days ago. Up until this morning it was working almost perfectly. Then the screen just went dark.
I scoured the net and found that many people had the same problem straight out of the box - they usually had a torn flex connection. So I took apart all of the external plastic and looked over the whole length. Nothing. Not a single little tear.
Any advice on what else I can try?
I'm a complete noobie and would appreciate nay advice you can give me.


P.S. The controls next to the screen don't work except to wake up the LEDs inside the box.

Time to get out a voltage probe and start getting some readings. Some how it isnt getting power. If you bought this through Amazon, contact them and send it back for another.
