The 3D Printed Working Pocket Knife By MMDR Designs

MMDR Designs, run by a husband-and-wife team, has recently taken off from at-home fun designs for acquaintances to become an official business. David Rosenfeld, one of the owners, long ago designed a pocket knife to be created with traditional manufacturing means. After that method didn't produce the intended product, he redesigned it in 3D using Alibre (now Geomagic Design), and has successfully 3D printed a folding pocket knife. Check out the background and details in the full article: http://3dprint.com/33754/3d-printed-knife-2/

nice looking knife (got to get some decent icons on this forum - imagine this is a Thumbs-Up sign)

As far as concealed weapons go. You'd be much better off with a ceramic blade knife.
And given that simply breaking the seat tray in half gives you a really strong, nasty serrated edged weapon. Worrying about people carrying plastic pocket knives onto a plane is just daft.
There are no end of standard items onboard an aeroplane that can be weaponised much much easier than trying to smuggle a plastic knife through customs.

People and the idiots who run security at airports waste a lot of time and effort on entirely the wrong things.

That said - I like the idea of plastic knives. And have just remembered that I downloaded design for one last year (lol)
    Got to try that out.
