First 3D Printing Technology College Opens in China

China is, like much of the Western world, seeing the use of 3D printing expand exponentially. Winbo, a Chinese company, has been a leader in that country's 3D printing industry, manufacturing desktop 3D printers. Winbo is also doing its part to see that 3D printing becomes a better understood technology, and to that end recently opened what seems to be the world's first 3D printing technology college. Baiyun Winbo 3D Printing Technology College, in Baiyun District, Gungzhou City, China, consists of three sections: teacher training, R&D, and student practice. Check out details about this first-of-its-kind college in the full article: http://3dprint.com/33398/3d-printing-college-in-china/

Unfortunately with the massive grants the Chinese government is giving out this is quickly becoming a popular business model for profiting from 3D printing here in China- dubious “research” and “education centers” that sit empty with a skeleton staff and dusty printers just weeks after these media blitzes. I’ve seen half a dozen of these projects in Guangdong alone and all are unfortunately just for show.

Re: Yes, we should keep an eye on WINBO to see whether it is a one-time show or a show forever.

I have personally been invited to Winbo, my impression is that the boss is really into 3D printing, they have a nice workshop and machines in different sizes. Let alone they have 15 years plus history in plastic molding.

Anyone doubting Chinese made FDM 3D printer should update their view, the performance as for today is in superb performance (minus good instruction manuals )!
Aside from Winbo, there is a flood of 3D printers from China, many made by young engineers with great respect to the 3D printing industry. You can see some of the machines at 3Dfilamenta Marketspace.

Could not agree more- there is tremendous potential for anyone who resells Chinese printers with professional documentation.
