Raul Castrellon and Lawrence Goo of Palos Verdes on the Net are hoping their design for a 3D printed claw will be used one day by emergency service personnel in Los Angeles to help out people in danger. The device, designed to function like the claw toy-grabbing machines in arcades, could carry a smart phone, a camera, food, or medical supplies to areas where traditional vehicles would be hard-pressed to reach quickly. Thomas Ewald of the LA County Fire Department says a rugged, easy to use device like this drone-dependent hook could save lives and reduce property loss.
