Embroidered 3D Printed Signage Created by Japanese Firm

Japanese design studio YOY worked with K’s Design Lab to produce a signage system that mimics embroidery. The 3D printed pieces were displayed at Tokyo’s Design Week and are the latest addition to the portfolio of the minimalist designers portfolio. Embroidery is a technique that dates back at least two and a half millennia, the history of which is the story of detailed labor and feminine handicraft. The creation of this embroidered signage creates an interesting intersection between manual craft techniques and the latest in advanced technology and materials. I'm a fan of old fashioned embroidery to be truthful. I wonder if this thing can print as fast as a machine embroider can? I had a neighbour who was a tailor who had this machine some 20 years ago... you pressed a button and BAM! it just printed out these amazing colour pictures using all these diff colour threads that were lined up, was pretty impressive back then.
