    Make Your Own 3D Printer Extruder

    Egypt-based ATOM 3D is an open source project for DIY 3D printers. The project has released an Instructables tutorial on how to create a simple, low-cost extruder for a 3D printer. Using everyday materials like plywood and aluminum scrap, the extruder looks simple to put together and seems to work.     Looks good. I would suggest getting the barrel top as close to the drive pulley as possible, and a filament guide hoop above the drive as well. The less gap between the barrel and the drive means less opportunity to buckle the filament. A filament guide hoop would help contain filament position before it goes into the drive. Maybe just surface glue instead of tab into slot, to avoid weakening the lever arm.
