    3D Printed Self Portrait Masks

In the spirit of the artistic self-portrait, and somewhere past the increasingly ubiquitous cell phone "selfie," artist Joshua Harker has brought 3D printing into the realm of artistic self-expression. His "21st Century Self-Portrait" is a complete capture of a self-portrait, from the facial structure all the way back to the brain. Produced from a 3D scan of his face and a CT scan of his skull, Harker's self-portrait modernizes the self-portrait. He also keeps art an intrinsic part of the concept, as a filigree structured mask in the shape of his face provides a strong sense of design. With the help of uformit and i.materialize, similar self-portraits (only of the mask bit) can be produced for anyone, available as pendants in a variety of materials from brass to solid gold. That’s really amazing. I don’t understand why people are not discussing on this topic.
