We've seen 3D printing used in many instances within the medical field. We've seen it used to help doctors remove tumors, fix a child's heart, and much more. Now doctors in China are using the technology for the creation of a template for the injection of radioactive seeds into cancer tissue in a woman's sinus area. Radioactive Seed Implantation is a process by which radioactive "seed", about the size of a grain of rice are injected with needles into cancer cells. These seeds destroy the cancer tissue without harming surrounding cells. It is a very difficult process to get these seeds in just the right area, but thanks to a 3D printed template that researchers were able to make, this process has gotten a lot easier.
