supports on object

I was wondering if you think you need supports and generate with supports, and machine thinks it doesn't need support does it still print something or ignore my support option? I thought my object needed supports so I selected, however it looks as thou there is no support structure where I thought would need some, hope I am making sense

If the slicing software doesn't think it needs supports, it won't generate supports. For example, in Slic3r, if you set the support option to generate support for 45 degree overhangs - meaning any slope of 45 degrees or less over thin air gets support generated underneath it. Anything more and no support. Think of 90 degrees as vertical and 0 as horizontal, so 50 degrees is a bit more vertical and gets no support.
