Making a 3D printed box with lid
When designing a 3D printed box, how much space should there be around around the diameter of the lid in order for the lid to properly fit over the bottom after prep , primer and paint so the lid will wall come off the bottom?
Thanks in advance!

The best way to know is to make a test model .. make 1x1in box, measure and document actual size with a digital caliper, paint and finish it, then measure the outer diameter again. Use this number to calculate the ID of the box lid and print it.. Adjust lid size until you get the fit you want. Model your actual box using the delta info you gathered in your test.
There are no fast rules, if you over extrude or under extrude your size changes..you have to test and measure checking for the desired fit.

You should leave a small gap of about 0.2mm to 0.5mm around the diameter of the cap. Geometry Vibes
