Modernize My 3D Printing Setup: Need Cura with Direct USB & WiFi Control
I've been using MatterControl 1.7 for years because it supports USB printing directly. Recently, I purchased an ELEGOO Neptune 3 Pro, which offers both wireless and USB printing. Now, I'm looking to update my setup with these features:
Cura Slicer: I like Cura for slicing my 3D models.
Direct USB Control: I need a solution that supports USB printing directly.
Direct WiFi Control: I also want to print wirelessly and control the printer over the network.
My Current Workflow:
I have three 3D printers in my garage, each connected by USB to a Windows computer.
Each computer is on my home network, and I access them remotely from my main computer.
I design on my main computer and save my STL files in a designated folder.
Then, I use Google Remote Desktop to connect to the computer attached to the printer.
Once connected, I run MatterControl 1.7 and load the STL file for printing.
I only visit the garage for tasks like part removal, cleaning the beds, or changing filaments.
The Goal:
While switching to a modern toolset is a big change for me, I want to keep the same basic process of
managing printers from my main computer. I'm looking for a solution that allows me to use Cura for
slicing and still offers both USB and WiFi printing/control. Any recommendations or advice on how to
achieve this would be appreciated!
