Hi gang, 3d printing noob here. I am a graphic designer (and woodworker) contemplating making artistic interior/exterior signs. Signs of my design and not as a commercial retail sign enterprise. I have created 3" letters with a scroll saw . . . major PITA. CNC machines are way more money than I want to spend. Is 3d printing compatible with this idea? I have also worked with basic 3d modeling/animation in a previous life. Are there filaments that can handle exterior conditions? I assume I would have to use specific primers and final coats. My main emphasis is on letter production 3" to 12" tall. I would also like to play with beveled front edges. I know I can do that in 3d software but can these filament materials be strong enough to be worked with files (if wall thickness is printed to account for this)? I would appreciate any comments or links to other sites. I'm not averse to research. Thanks in advance!
