layers start moving
Hi all,
I have my printer for 5 weeks and suddenly today it started to print and move the layers.
I printed the same design yesterday and now after each x layers it moves to a side.
So the base sticks on his original place.
What can that be?
I don't see how to upload a picture so i hope you understand.Last edited by Johny1900; 12-01-2024 at 02:01 AM. Reason: misspelled

Yes..but not that bad. But yes. Its like having a deck of card and then suddenly after 2cm is shifts, then goes normally and after 1cm shifts again and several times like that.
I recalibrate everything. The bed at 65 degrees and nozzle at 220 degrees.
Then I printed a design called Oscar (a small oscar) it went fine and suddenly when it started with the feet it shifted again. And I printed it last week several times and it went ok
So it can't be that it's not sticking. The speed I assume not as I print the same speed always.
So any suggestions are welcome.

Is the layer shift on the X or Y or on both axis's
Have you watched the print, does the nozzle seen to run away then return and continue like nothing happens at times
Has it ever made a louder noise during the layer shift.
If layer shift is only on one axis, it could be a loose belt, could be the V-Ref stepper current is incorrect
If it makes a noise at the time of a layer shift occurs it could be debris on the smooth rods or smooth rod bearing.
Belts should adjusted to the correct tension not too much to strain the stepper motor just enough to keep the belt from jumping teeth.
There are many You-Tube videos demonstrating how to adjust 3D Printer belts. And almost the same to set Stepper motor V-Ref Current.Last edited by Roberts_Clif; 11-30-2024 at 04:44 PM.

Thx Roberts_cliff for the remarks.
I finally could print again normally.
I first restored the defaults of the printer. Like it came from the factory.
Then did a full calibration setup again. And also the belt tensions (never thought of that one)
No there was never a sound. It really was like the code added sone extra cm to some coordinates (hihi)
Nd now it seems to be ok.
Just printed already 5 Oscar statues and the all are ok.
Thinking of everything. Before it all went wrong I did got and error on the tablet screen, and a reset button. Maybe that might also have some influence of the error.
Anyhow I am happy again and thank you for helping me.

You are most welcome, this is how I stay informed and keep my own 3D Printers working.
Helping others keeps me up to date with all 3D Printer knowledge needed to be able to keep my own 3D Printers running at top performance an up to date.
