when the nozzle stops printing as it moves to a new location the filament is retracted so it does not keep leaking out while the move to the new location takes place. Once it gets there it the moves back to where it was and starts printing again. I tend to set mine (direct drive) to 40- 50mmS..

Thank you so much...... Does direct drive means like the extrudes that comes with prusa?
What should be the value for other type of extrudes and what should be the retraction length?

Check with your manufactures Forum .. Prusa uses a Bowden tube with remote extruder I think so it is different. I have no idea what others get set to..

My Prusa MK 3 is direct drive vs my Creality printer which has a long tube that guides the filament to the extruder. A quick Google image search will show you the differences between the two.
You bring up Prusa, do you have a Prusa printer or use Prusa slicer? I ask because, and this is just me maybe, but with Prusa Slicer I rarely touch much beyond Filament bed and filament temperature. I have on occasion turned on the retract distance override to help with stringing but found that, for me, adjusting the temperature worked better. Anyway I say this to say that I believe the Prusa Slicer program by default works well without too many adjustments. I use it for all of my printers, since it will do different brands, usually with the bed size built in.
