prusa mk3s: first layer lifting in a ripping fashion
I'm printing using PETG, The build plate is clean and I also used glue stick for adhesion. I've done the 1st layer calibration and that was fine too, it's when its extended printing that this happens. Any help would be appreciated.

The only time I get is when I try to 3D Print the first layer too fast.
Sometimes 1st and 2nd layers then it will finish 3D printing perfectly.

Just out of interest, at what speed do you normally print at once the 1st layers are down? Oh so far so good on the print the 1st 4 layers are done and nothing lifted yet. Yay! Thanks for the info earlier.

You are welcome.
I have my 3D printer setup to print the first layer at 32% then the remaining layers at 72-82%.
This is relative to which slicer I am using Cura 15.04.6 prints at what I consider a normal speed however Prusa Slicer seems to print at slower speeds.
Could be how my configuration speeds are setup.Last edited by Roberts_Clif; 09-28-2024 at 11:31 AM.

I'm using the same brand printer and I've never tried slowing down the first layer. I see where that would help but for me, I usually clean the plate really well to get good adhesion, and then bump the bed and nozzle temp. Like you, I've used more than my fair share of glue sticks to get adhesion but it can be hit or miss, sticking my print really well or acting like a grease pencil. I first wash the Prusa plate with warm water then wipe it down with alcohol once while it's heating up.

Currently I am trying to print on this surface with no luck.
IdeaFormer 256x268mm Anycubic Kobra 3 Compatible 3D Printer Build Plate, Spring Steel PEO / PET Heat bed Sheet with Magnet Base.

As I am having so little luck I also purchased these.
3D Printer Build Plate 290x290mm Double Sided PEI Flexible Spring Steel Hot Bed Build Plate with Magnet Base.
Though have to cut these sheets to size before I can use them as they will not fit the current bed.

I have mostly 3D Printed on the cheap PEI sheets below with the best luck.

What I found works the best was when I was 3D printing a Tape, no not blue tape.
I was 3D Printing Vinyl Transfer paper tape medium tack.
Installing Vinyl Transfer Paper Tape
Will Vinyl Transfer Paper release my Print
