Two artists based in Bremen, Germany have come up with a way of merging a form of ancient data storage, the clay plate, with modern telecommunication data. They constructed a 3D printer called EXtrace which works by ingesting data collected from one of the world's largest internet nodes in Frankfurt, Germany, and printing out a clay sculpture which represents that particular data.
