What better way to get people in India excited about 3D printing technology then to 3D print one of the Hindu religion's most popular gods, Lord Ganesha. That's exactly what Altem Technologies has done. They first 3D scanned a model of the god, and then printed out statues, both on Polyjet machines and FDM machines with resin, as well as ABS plastic. The models turned out great. They are now part of a 6 foot tall and 5 foot wide installation in Bangalore India. The installation is open to the public for the next 9 days until Sept 7th. More details on this can be found here: http://3dprint.com/13373/lord-ganesha-india-3d-print/

Check it out. The gray model is the actual 3D print of Lord Ganesha, while the one to the right is an actual statue.
