3D Printer Recommendation for a beginner

Hello everyone, I have recently wanted a 3d printer to learn how to operate both the software and hardware. Since I have no previous experience with one, can I get a few recommendations?
I am looking for a 3d printer with a product size of that I can fit comfortably in my house, somewhere in a room. For the building size I am probably going to work on small projects, so something a little bit bigger than a 4"x 4"x 4". The rest can be whatever fits those requirements. Although many $500 machines are becoming available, they are not here yet. For $1000, a Flash Forge or a Wanhou has lots of users and lots of forum posts to help you get started.
