We have seen various applications of 3D printing within the medical field. Particularly useful has been the 3D printing of models so that Surgeons could operate from a more informative position. A recent study however, has shown that 3D printed models of the kidney can play a vital role in providing patients more information so that they can better understand their problem, and prepare themselves for surgery and the complications which may be caused.
