Can't increase retraction rate with Cura on Lulzbot Taz 6

I'm experimenting around and I was recommended to use Cura to slice my models. I was messing around with it and was having some stringing, so I started to try messing with the retraction distance and speed. I very quickly realized that for some reason the speed is capped at 40mm/s. I'm not sure if that's a printer physical limit, or if Cura is just being weird. I tried adjusting settings that might affect the retraction speed setting and hoped for some miracle fix, with no avail.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

    that can't be right.
what version of cura are you using ?
shouldn't be any limit on retraction speed or distance.

Version 3.6.13. The moment I go over 40mm/s, I get the error. It happens on Both of my pc's, running the same versions of Cura

You have to bear in mind that cura isn't really intended for non-ultimaker printers.
Plus the newer versions do seem to be getting more and more problematical.

Have you tried a different slicer ?

repetier control with slic3r is probably better.

Also there are actually specific versions of cura for lulzbot printers. https://www.lulzbot.com/cura
    have you tried that ?
