3D printing can bring unexpected changes to the supply chain

Nowadays 3D printing is popular around the world. We can see that it can be applied to many fields, such as parts for cars and planes in manufacture industry, 3D structure for plastic and cosmetic surgery. No doubt that 3D printing draws attention from various fields. In the supply chain, from manufacture to logistics, 3D printing is becoming more and more recognized, accepted and applied. Many well-known vehicles brands have been used 3D printing technology in their supply chain for quicker development of new products which can face the changes in the market more positively.

1.Avoiding the negative impact of outsourcing production In the traditional supply chain , companies usually need to purchase raw materials from external suppliers, then process them in the factory, and then distribute them to customers through the warehousing and distribution network. Therefore, a large amount of capital of the company is used in plant construction, equipment purchase and staffing, which makes the entire supply chain complicated and increases the difficulty of enterprise management.

2.Save money and time through simplifying the supply chain Transportation costTransporting parts from overseas or those parts that rarely use cost a lot.3D printer can help you solve the problem, As long as you install a 3D printer, you can produce parts on demand. A study shows that this can help companies save up to 85% on transportation costs.

Save production timeIf 3D printing can shorten production time, even for one minute, one hour, one week or one month, it can have a positive impact on large industries. While the use of 3D printing to produce a single prototype part within an enterprise does not seem to save a lot of money, the time or money savings for those large manufacturers will quickly overlap.

Reduce the waste of material 3D printing reduces the waste by producing parts according to the manufacturer's specifications and producing tools as needed.
