    Creality Ender 3

So this is my first 3d printer and im relatively clueless when it comes to them so as i attempt to get things setup im curious as to what all i need.

The printer was a gift from a friend as he upgraded and gave it to me. He told me i wouldnt need a Raspberry Pi module and i said cool.

I downloaded Cura and im having issues getting My PC to recognize that theres even a printer around. Does the Mini USB port in the front not offer connection options directly to the PC? I cannot seem to get any recognition when i plug it in. Do i absolutely HAVE to have a micro SD card for this all to work?

not sure your friend did you any favours.

Most 3d printers have a square(ish) usb printer socket on the motherboard itself.
The ender 3 is the worst designed machine around at the moment, but even the really cheap boards usually have a usb printer port.

work your way through this: https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/wiki/newguideender3

    Hopefully that will help :-)

Actually having looked at it - probably not.
And yes it does appear that that is your usb connection. Go to a pound/buck store and get a cheap cable.

You're best bet would actually be to sell the ender3 to some other poor sod, and use the money for something that might work and is easier to use.

If you are on facebook, join the ender 3 facebook group. Facebook groups tend to be pretty good.
