Unhappy ABS Raft prints beautifully, but item is tangle of disconnected threads

After my antique makerbot dual (the old wooden one) prints a beautiful raft, it starts the item, moving fast and just laying a tangle of disconnected threads. Been stuck on this for a few days after not using it for a month or so.

I use MakerWare because it generates the .s3g file my antique printer uses.

    Settings:
    Quality --
    Infill: 15%
    Number of shells: 2
    Layer Height: 0.10mm
    Temperature --
    Extruder: 240C
    Build Plate: 110C
    Speed --
    While extruding: 10mm/s
    While traveling: 50mm/s

I have MakerBot red 3mm filament.

I've printed with this stuff before, but not for a couple months.

Should I set my mm/s even slower? Once it finishes the raft, it speeds up to print the item. It won't let me set the extruding speed any slower. I usually use like 20mm/second.

A prettier raft I've never seen, but a worse tangle of mess I've never seen either. Raft sticks nicely to my kapton.

(Maybe I'll try making this thing white instead of red.)

Since I had just printed something smaller successfully, I broke it into 4 parts and those seem to be printing ok.
