Chinese Surgeons 3D Print Bone Replacements

We have seen a number of ways 3D printing is changing the medical field. This last week it was revealed that surgeons in China have used 3D printers in a few cases when dealing with bone replacements and implants. Doctors used 3D printing to model a fractured pelvis prior to surgery, giving surgeons a better idea of what needed to be accomplished during surgery. In a separate case surgeons also 3d printed out a titanium collar bone, and shoulder bone as a replacement for cancer riddled bones of patients. Here is an image of one of the 3D printed titanium shoulder blades which was implanted into a cancer patient:

Isn't it remarkable how 3D printing is making its way into the medical field in so many different ways?
