    Da Vince 3D Printers Jailbroken

I find this very amusing. Apparently the Da Vinci 3D printers have been jailbroken to accept other types of filament other than their own filament cartridges. I knew that it was only going to be a matter of time. Do you think that 3D printer manufacturers will continue to use ways of restricting only their own filament on 3D printers or do you think that this will be a lesson? 3D printer enthusiasts are mostly people of the "hacker" type, meaning they will always be able to come up with ways to work around restrictions.

Good for the hackers. I mean I know that This was a business model and they have their right to tie people in but.... do we really want to be paying extraordinary prices for filament when in fact it's extremely cheap to produce? I don't feel like an exclusive model like that will work in the long run anyway as there are just to many open source 3d printers on the market to take market share away from those companies who are exclusive.
