    Volunteers Please Post here

If you are willing to help with the 3D Printed Prosthetic Initiative, then please respond to this thread, with ways that you feel you can help.

    For example
    1) Do you have a 3D printer, and are willing to print out pieces or entire prosthetics on it? This may include robotic hands, feet, etc.
    2) Have you designed or remixed a design of a robotic arm, hand, or other prosthetic, and feel you could contribute ideas and designs?
    3) Are you an engineer and feel that you could help customize designs for people?
    4) Would you like to be one of our initiative leaders? This means moderating this section of the forums, starting new initiative threads, etc.
    5) Would you be able to help us get more media coverage of this initiative?
    6) Would you be able to help recruit volunteers?
    7) Would you be able to help find people in needs of 3D printed prosthetics?
    8) Are you able to volunteer in another way? Let's hear how.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

An amazing initiative. Not everyone can afford the 10,000 / 20,000+ prosthetic's on the market already so this is a truly needed way to go.

I do not yet have a 3D Printer, but i have many other skills. From robotics to design work. I have a huge interest in this field and to be honest, if i had better finances would definitely be putting more study, research and development into things new style prosthetics and additions like touch / temperature feedback for arms.

Custom fit prosthetics using scanned information would always be a bonus.

I would also love to be involved in finding potential 'clients'. Visiting specialist areas and hospitals i feel is a must in this area. The best idea would be to work as close as possible with the people in need.

    1) I have a couple 3D Printers and have already wanted to help with this project, but didn't know where to find people that needed help
    2) No but once i start making them i am most certain i will come up with my own tweaks.
    3) I am not an engineer by education but i have been designing, building, and tweaking things for years and years.
    4) I would be open to it, not ready to commit yet
    5) Word of mouth
    6) I can try
    7) I can talk to local doctors I work in medical related tech field.
    8) I will keep it in mind!

    Yes and Yes.

I have never designed a prosthetic for a real life patient. I have designed some very complicated items and gadgets that have been printed on my 3D-Printer. I can work effectively within a team environment working on this type of project. I will be able to contribute ideas that are helpful to solving the bigger problem.

I'm getting close to being an 'Engineer' I am certainly willing to help tackle difficult problems.

Yes but if possible, I would prefer to wait until the 'right' initiative makes itself apparent. If the 'right' initiative appears I would be willing to lead it and push it foreword. However, with that said, for the first several initiatives done here, my guess is the learning curve is going to be steep and we may need to have several people all driving it forward to keep things organized. It might make sense to limit what and how much we try to take on for the first assignment. We probably should have a discussion about which initiatives get launched first (or ever).

I don't have any media connections.

If we need special expertize I would be willing to do what I can to recruit them. But this isn't my most useful role.

If I find somebody with a special need, I will point them here. But this won't be my most useful role.

I don't know how to answer this other than to say any big engineering project always has the team members making contributions they did not expect. The bottom line is everybody needs to do what ever they can to get the team across the finish line.

Yes I do have couple of printer. Connex 500, Fortus 400mc and 900mc. Also we have silicon moding and voxeljet and EOS.

    2) Have you designed or remixed a design of a robotic arm, hand, or other prosthetic, and feel you could contribute ideas and designs?
I am an engineer and specialized for sales. Not for design.

For this question, I would like to care about the forum. In addition to that to care about something will take time. I am not exactly sure about if i have that much time.

    5) Would you be able to help us get more media coverage of this initiative?
In turkey, ı can arrange something.

    6) Would you be able to help recruit volunteers?
    I guess no.

I work in dental technology and may be able to help in certain areas and have access to medical professionals that may be willing to help out. I also have a personnel 3d printer and some interesting equipment at work that could probably be borrowed out of hours.
