seen pretty much all the mcor printers and prints over the last few years. They always have a decent stall at TCT uk.
Print quality is excellent, colours are sharp - seen definite improvements year on year.

Have you considered the new xyz colour printer ? https://www.xyzprinting.com/en-GB/pr...da-vinci-color

Slightly cheaper (under $5000) and still very good.

I believe with the mcor you can actually soak away the unused paper.
I've certainly seen impressive prints with small and intricate parts.
They had small geared things last year, I believe as well as the usual tools, extruded 3d photos and artistic models.

Handling the mcor parts is like holding commercial resin models.
The first machines made something that felt like paper mache, the current models make models that feel like cast resin.
I think there are an awful lot of moving parts and things that could go wrong with the mcor machines - but the prints are very impressive and would be ideal for your purposes.
Have you looked at the arke ? much cheaper, larger build volume and the newest version of the technology. The iris hd is an older machine and less functional in a number of ways.

The projet has the largest build volume of the three. NO idea what it costs - but any company that only does quotes is never cheap :-)

If I were in your shoes - the Mcor arke would be my choice. Particularly as it's around $10,000 in cost and I don't see what you get from the $44,000 version that the Arke doesn't do at least as well.

One thing you won't find anywhere on the mcor website is the price of ink and resin or blades (never been sure if the resin is included in the ink or a seperate liquid). But I'm fairly sure they are not cheap. So again the cheaper arke helps offset that considerably.
The paper is the only consumable mcor ever mention. So expect the real consumables to cost a fair amount

I can confirm that arke prints are at least as good as prints from any other mcor printer.
Whoever is trying to sell you the iris hd is probably working on commission, as it's an older costlier machine, lacks wifi and has smaller build volume to boot. Me I'd get a few arkes.
Buy 4 get the model done 4x faster, and no need to stop when a printer inevitably has an issue - and save $4000 towards the cost of consumables :-)

Cool video of the Arke's autoimatic waste removal:

Who knew fanfold paper would ever make a comeback ? I remember nicking boxes of it when I was at college, 30 odd years ago.
The iris can only use a4.

Another video of normal way of removing paper:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f34aZ-xbcKE

The really interesting thing about the mcor 3d printing system is that it's NOT strictly additive manufacturing, but far more a traditional subtractive manufacturing method.

    Another Arke video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f34aZ-xbcKE

Oh yeah - it comes in different colours too :-)
So to sum up - someone is trying to sell you a 4 year old model for 4x the price of the latest and much better (faster, larger build volume, better paper path, better connectivity, smaller footprint, etc) Mcor ARKe printer.
