The Homemade 3D Printing Pen - Works better than the expensive ones

I found this on Google this morning. This guy created a "3D printing pen" using a hot glue gun. OK, maybe it's not a pen, but it uses the same idea. However, his "printer" works better because you can control the speed of the extrusion, whereas on pens like the 3Doodler you only have 1 speed.

While this was a joke. It supports "glue gun material" LOL. Couldn't this easily be modified to extrude filament through a smaller nozzle?

Potentially. A high temperature hot glue gun operates at 190C (low temperature is 120C, and this one will do either), which is hot enough for some plastics. ABS is right out, but some PLA will work, and possibly some other less common materials.

You could possibly wire in a rheostat rather than the high-low switch to allow finer temperature control and have a non-contact thermometer for feedback.
