3D Printed Running and Cycling Routes

Jake Morgan, an entrepreneur and cycling enthusiast who created 3D printing startup PrintMyRoute, enjoys working with maps and data, and after seeing some Tour de France stage visualizations, thought it might be neat to see 3D printed models of his own routes. The startup is able to run any kind of GPS data file through its software, like a TCX file from Garmin or an exported GPX file from Strava, and tweak the model. Then, they show the customer a 3D visualization of the model to make sure they're happy with it, and print the route using biodegradable PLA, which usually takes between two and six hours, depending on the complexity of the route.
