A 3D Printing Cure for Arthritis?

Researchers led by Rocky S. Tuan have been working on a new 3d printing technology which they hope will help them cure arthritis sometime in the near future. The new technology 3d prints a patient's stem cells to form cartilage. The cartilage may one day be able to be 3D printed directly into a patient's body, using a catheter, making arthritis a very curable disease.

The team is now working on ways to perfect the technology, which uses natural light rather than UV light that many other researchers have been experiencing with. The natural light is much better for the printed cells, as UV light can oftentimes kill them.
