Flashforge Finder makes bang and bad offset

I have a Flashforge Finder printer and when printing it has started to 'bang' and vibrate when it has to make quick transitions between small sections or different parts on the x-y axis and the print becomes more and more offset.
However if I am printing something where the head moves in one continuous motion it prints fine.
Is this a stepper motor problem, has anyone else had this?

Cable to the X drive stepper motor may have started to fail. Continuous moves will go more gentle on it, but fast starts and stops are causing an open circuit on one of the drives.
