A 54-year-old man in Brazil has not only beaten cancer but also the devastation it did to his face after surgeons removed a tumor that had affected his mouth and throat. As it moved toward his brain, they had to remove part of his face, to include his right eye socket and part of his nose. Once the cancer had been stopped in its tracks, Carlito Conceiçao was referred to Dr. Rodrigo Salazar, a Peruvian dentist and specialist in oral rehabilitation who used 3D scanning and 3D printing to create an improved facial prosthetic for him.
