Question Dremel Idea Builder 1.0 price drop - is it worth buying?

I saw at my local Home Depot that the Idea Builder 1.0 is on sale for $499 (down from $999). I know Dremel just released the 2.0, but is the 1.0 worth picking up at this price?

I have read the reviews, so I know about the proprietary filament and some feed issues. The US based and active support is a big plus for me. I tried buying a PrintrBot simple a year ago and never got it to work and never got any support form the company for a bad board, so that soured me a lot on smaller companies.

Is it worth spending $500 on this a s a first 3D printer, or should I spend a bit more for something better and more compatible/expandable?

    Thanks for reading

Don't forget, no heated bed. Not worth it. You can easily find something better for a lot less...

for $500 I'd go for the wanhao duplicator i3 plus.
Got pretty much everything you need in a 3d printer.

The Dremel is a good quality printer, but, as pointed out, it does lack a lot of features such as a heated bed. I think even for this reduced price there are better options to go with.
