Controversy has arisen within the 3D printing community after 3D designer Simone Fontana recently accused the 3D printing company SD3D of stealing his 3D penny-style skateboard model to make their own. Fontana claims that the SD3D team simply added a curve to his pre-existing design, both of which have the same three rod support connecting the board and four-part structural design. But SD3D’s designer Kiana Duncan responded by saying that they credited Fontana for inspiring the board, but that their design is curved, concaved, a different type of skateboard, and entirely designed from scratch.
