With a new technology that combines 3D printing and remote 3D imaging, Stanford University researchers believe that they can eventually create replicas of rocks from as far away as the moon or Mars. While the tech isn't quite there yet, it's still capable of a lot, as demonstrated in a newly released study that shows how 3D printing can be used to study the microscopic structures of rocks for the first time.
