3D Systems reported second quarter earnings for 2016, with a thumbs up for their software and healthcare profits, but not so much for 3D printer sales and related areas. They reported revenue of $158.1 million, and a GAAP loss of $0.04 per share, with non-GAAP earnings of $0.12 per share. When examining results from the second quarter of 2015, we see a 7% decrease directly aligned with a fall in 3D printer sales and on-demand manufacturing. This resulted in a GAAP loss of $0.20 per share and non-GAAP earnings of $0.17 per share. Gross profit margin increased by 50.9%, operating expenses decreased by 21%, and $176.2 million of cash on hand as of the end of June—an increase from $155.6 this past December.
