Columbia University’s Mechanical Engineering Professor Hod Lipson and his student team have been spending the year developing a sleek food 3D printer prototype. Lipson and his team are currently working to get the printer to cook the extruded ingredients at specific temperatures, which will be controlled by a unique software developed specifically for food 3D printing. Lipson has also collaborated with the New York City-based International Culinary Center school to develop new novel textures, combinations, and spatial arrangements of basic food ingredients.
