A Michigan State University professor was recently approached by police with a strange request - could he help them solve a murder by 3D printing the victim's fingers? The police believe that they may be able to gain valuable information about the man's killer by searching his cell phone, but as the phone is fingerprint-protected, they can't gain access. However, the man's fingerprints are on file, so Professor Anil Jain and PhD student Sunpreet Arora are working with a 3D printer and conductive metallic ink to help the police get into the victim's phone.
