MakerBot has just completed their third STEAM-driven Makeathon event of the summer, this time in Chicago, Illinois. Participants teamed up to recreate their lesson plans utilizing 3D printing technology, which will ultimately serve to immerse their students into this emerging technology. The first place lesson plan, created by the team Sphero Water Wars, asks students to create a 3D printed car with an attached Sphero hat model, which must complete a race course while retaining as much water as possible. Second place went to Team Eggbert for their challenging lesson, which will ask students to make a 3D printable device that is capable of safely transporting an egg from one area to another.
