Hewson mentioned the vital role the Sciaky's Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM) metal 3D printer in their manufacturing facility played in producing a mission-critical titanium part for their satellite program. The focus of her remarks was on the need to develop more cost cutting measures, and the role that advanced technology plays in that. Using the EBAM technology lead to an 80 percent reduction in the amount of time needed to manufacture it, a 75 percent reduction in waste and a 55 percent reduction in cost.
