Cambridge Researcher 3D Prints Surgical Guides for Canine Knee Replacement
3D printing technology in medicine isn't just for humans anymore. Dr. Matthew Allen of Cambridge University recently used the tools provided through advanced manufacturing to create a model of a dog's knee for partial knee replacement surgery as well as to 3D print surgical guides to aid during the operation. As a result, he was not only able to go into the surgery better prepared, but able to perform a less invasive operation with a much higher degree of accuracy than ever before.
