Not all those who are preparing for the apocalypse are conspiracy theory wing-nuts or unhinged mountain men determined to filter their own urine for water. Some are preparing for disaster on a smaller scale, from the period between services after a natural disaster to the possibilities of recession if Trump were elected president. It pretty much boiled down to: '3d printers are good at making things, even if you happen to be a total nutter who believes in zombies'
Mind you she did point out that zombies are considerably less scary than trump being elected president, albeit obliquely ;-)

The writer could have actually made an effort to at least type '3d printed survival/prepper tools' into a search engine.
