Again, we follow the story of now eight-year-old Grace Kabelenga, hailing from Zambia, and better known as ‘the girl without a forehead.’ Thanks to doctors and technicians from around the world, she has received several surgeries now which are helping her to become much more functional, as well as rebuilding the deformed cranial areas. In the last surgery, performed in Cape Town, South Africa at the Tygerberg Hospital in May 2015, 3D Systems was instrumental. Due to their extensive 3D software and 3D printers, surgeons had all the tools they needed to keep working on Grace’s case. The 3D printed forehead implant was a great success, and now they look forward to another surgery for her this year which will offer soft tissue reconstruction of other main facial areas.
