A new Kickstarter campaign features what its creators call the most accurate lunar globe ever, and it may very well be true. Designer Oscar Lhermitte used data and images gathered by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter to 3D model and print a perfectly accurate and detailed scale model of the moon, complete with all topographical features. London-based design team Kudu, working with Lhermitte on the project, created a computer-controlled ring of LED lights representing the sun, which is capable of rotating around the moon model in real time over the course of a month. The KickstaDes3D rter has already surpassed its funding goal, but there are plenty of rewards left if you want to get in on it.
