What an incredible project a group of makers in Italy have embarked on to make sure that the blind are not excluded from viewing incredible artistic works such as Caravaggio’s Flagellation of Christ. Upon hosting an exhibit of the painting, the designers at MonzaMakers decided to put in a huge effort to translate the painting itself into a 3D printed tactile work so that the blind could enjoy Caravaggio’s mastery of light and dark just as much as everyone else. A high resolution image of the painting was applied to the 3D model, and they went from there, ending with very precise finishing work.
